Many many posts show that adding antenna to a router that was designed without them doesn't help. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
On my TL-841n, if I replaced the 5dbi antenna with 7dbi antenna, adding the connectors would lose up to 3db.
Not an upgrade.
Realistically, the connector loss probably isn't that bad, and the 7dbi upgrade antenna probably isn't up to spec either.
I just bought an upgrade? antenna with the plastic casing mostly empty, and the active element was only 22mm. 3GHz? Margarita day at the antenna factory?
In this case, I didn't need "RP-SMA" connectors at all. The chance of success is greatly improved if I put "N" connectors on the router. That's because high quality wifi antennas come with "N" connectors.
