I have some weirdness going on in this latest Kong build 1-8-2017, as well as the previous couple of builds... Please let me know your thoughts:

1.) Every 2-3 days, wireless clients on my WRT1900AC V1 will start getting excessively slow. To the point where I can't even pull up the DD-WRT GUI. Browsing websites on the wifi is painful and most of the time, nothing comes up. I have no problem from a wired client plugged in directly to the router. I have tried both the 2.4 and 5ghz range. I end up rebooting the router, and all is fine again.

2.) I've had trouble installing and upgrading with the last 2 or 3 builds. When I use the "ubootenv get boot_part / ubootenv set boot_part 2 / reboot" trick, it flashes/reboots a couple of times, and then reboots right back into DD-WRT. I have the right partition. If I try to use the .bin file and upgrade from within the GUI itself, it applies, reboots, flashes a couple of times again, and reboots back into its current version... it never upgrades, or switches over to the Linksys GUI. The only way I've been able to apply updates is to upgrade to the factory v1.0.8 Linksys version. When it reboots, it then comes back to the Linksys GUI. From there, I can then upgrade using the DD-WRT .img file.

<sigh> Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help & advice.

Are you flashing from the Linksys UI or DD-WRT? If Linksys then you need to use .img file. If from DD-WRT UI then use the .bin file.

It sounds like you are having a failed flash and the router is failing over to the other partition. Make sure you are using the correct file image.

I have not had the issue to describe.

I have also had this issue on Kong's -- but not Brainslayers for some weird reason.

I NEVER flash from any GUI but the Linksys GUI. Always flash full images, never upgrade.

WRT1900ACv2 & WRT3200ACM

BTW: I have switched to Gargoyle for both and never been happier.

Bill... I'm trying it both ways:

1.) If I try to reboot to the Linksys GUI like I always have in the past using the "ubootenv get boot_part / ubootenv set boot_part 2 / reboot" trick, it will never get to the Linksys GUI. It just reboots 3x, and ends back up in the DD-WRT partition. And yes, I would use the .img file here.

2.) If I try to upgrade from within the DD-WRT GUI, I use the .bin file, and in doing so, it says that upgrade completed, but it just reboots 3x, and again ends back up in the DD-WRT parition still running the old version.

So the only way I've been able to upgrade is to upgrade to the v1.0.8 Linksys stock version from within the DD-WRT partition... then it boots to the Linksys GUI. From there, I can upgrade to the latest DD-WRT version with the .img file.

Ugh. See my dilemma? I'm not sure what's wrong, or how to even fix this. ;/

Thanks! Would you please send me some detailed info/instructions on how to upgrade to Gargoyle? I'm assuming it has a GUI? I'd love to give it a try.
