Hi, I have read more guide for install optware on Atheros device but I always have problems and error when I try the procedure.
I would install Optware (Transmission for example).
I have partitions an USB key 8GB in 4 partition:
- 128MB swap
- 128MB jffs (I have enable JFFS2 support)
- 512MB optware
- 6.7GB NTFS data
Did you check if all the partitions are mounted properly and writable? If the problem is related to mounting and can't write, try other file format.
BTW, please provide more details about your problem. What errors did you see? Which dd-wrt build are you using? What file formats are you using and which optware guide are you following?
I believe you shouldn't enable jffs2 as that is needed for jffs on the internal flash memory. Since you are thinking of using external memory, the jffs partition on your USB drive, you don't need to use the jffs partition on the internal flash memory.

Post the error on the SSH or Telnet screen (do a screenshot of that). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Some dd-wrt wiki pages are up to date, others are not. PM me if you find an old one.
Atheros:
Netgear R7800 x3 - WDS AP / station, gateway, QoS
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 x2 - WDS Station
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1 - WDS Station
TP-Link 841nd v8 - NU
D-Link 615 C1/E3/I1 x 7 - 1 WDS station
D-Link 825 B1 - NU
D-Link 862L A1 x2 - WDS Station
Netgear WNDR3700v2 - NU
UBNT loco M2 x2 - airOS
Broadcom
Linksys EA6400 - Gateway, QoS
Asus N66U - AP
Netgear WNDR3700v3 - not used
MediaTek
UBNT EdgeRouter X - switch
If you're following the guides but when you reboot, nothing is on your USB drive, most likely the OS didn't really mount them.
First thing to check if your partitions are ext3, ssh into the router and run 'df -h'
If you don't see the partitions, they're not truly mounted despite what the USB page says.
The fix for me was to make the partitions ext2. I followed this: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=177532, and used the modification mentioned in section 7.1 _________________ Archer c7 v2 | dd-wrt 3.0 r30709 std

Is this on a memory stick or a harddrive? If it is on a memory stick (USB stick), use EXT2, no journalling, less writes, less drive wear. If it is on a harddrive, use EXT3, faster, writes and drive wear don't matter as much.
I have killed at least 2 USB drives with shared folder by doing many writes to it, even with EXT2. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

But I have make a partition opt and jffs (swap and NTFS Data) and the guide use only Data Partition, It's right?
You only need two partitions a big one (for your shared data), and a small one (for the system files, don't name it opt or optware because ddwrt will mount it to /opt automatically and you don't want that). _________________ Archer c7 v2 | dd-wrt 3.0 r30709 std

Mmm okay, one step at time.
I have 2 USB key avaliable: the first of 8GB (I would use this for the "core") and the second of 16GB (only for data).
The first of 8GB is split in 4 partitions: linux-swap, optware (EXT3), jffs (EXT3), data (NTFS).
The second of 16GB one partition in NTFS.
I use NTFS because it support mkv over 4GB and is direct compatible with windows, and I prefer it if is possible.
But I have make a partition opt and jffs (swap and NTFS Data) and the guide use only Data Partition, It's right?

well...two partition with filesystem? and how much GB? _________________ TP-LINK Archer C7 v2 | dd-wrt 3.0 r39956 std (2 devices)
But I have a little problem with built-in samba server.
I use Windows (7 Pro) but from Network windows I can't see the DD-WRT but if I put \\192.168.11.1 work fine but no with \\TP-LINK. Why?
I have the same problem with Lenovo NAS to 192.168.11.4, is a dd-wrt firewall problem? _________________ TP-LINK Archer C7 v2 | dd-wrt 3.0 r39956 std (2 devices)
