It's no news that there is an international V6 of TP-LINK's popular TL-WR740N. Since I have one handy I devoted some time to play with it and now here you are with pictures and information.
At first, this device seems quite similar to TL-WR841Nv10 and TL-WR841Nv11. So it wasn't a surprise I could allow it to boot DD-WRT's 841Nv11 build with updated firmware header.
Pictures of the board are below as attachments. As a reply there I will attach a working build.
Important note for flashing. The web upgrade does not work if you currently run the EU version of firmware:
wr740nv6_eu_3_16_9_up_boot(160325).bin <-- this does NOT work. Trying to load my DD-WRT build from it shows some 18005 error for incorrect version.
If that's the case with you then you have to first downgrade to:
wr740nv6_wr741ndv6_en_3_16_9_up_boot(150616).bin
For downgrade you may need to use wr740nv6_tp_recovery.bin TFTP method because I doubt it is downgradeable from 3.16.9.
After you downgrade to it you can upgrade from web interface to my build and see if it works.
Let's attach the promised bin files.
These three are TP-LINK's official firmwares and also the one I used to flash to DD-WRT.
After flashing my router was recognized as a TL-WR841NDv11 but worked after that. If you can survive because of this then you may give it a go.
Important note:
Any risk by flashing these firmwares is yours. Although I flashed mine and it worked, I cannot guarantee your hardware is the same, will work, will not explode, will not burn, will not smell bad, will not lose warranty etc.etc. Only flash preliminary betas in case you know what you are doing and in case you know how to restore without damages. So I keep no responsibility whatever happens. Only download my binaries if that's okay for you.
after upgrading using factory-to-ddwrt above made in checho,
it works, but I can't ping WAN interface (no reply/no arp), Unfortunately still have access through LAN interface.
ok, i upgrade again using 841nv11 release 30432 webflashUS.
Now, i can ping WAN interface.
But, I can't enable chillispot. I look at inside , there is no module tun loaded.

I was able to download files and flash the firmware as explained. My main aim is to use this in Repeater Bridge mode (basically to extend the range of my primary wifi). Unfortunately I don't see the Repeater Bridge option in the drop down list. I only see Client, Client Bridge and a couple of others.
Is the functionality not available? I have on older versions of the hardware of this router, the Repeater Bridge functionality was supported.
Please correct me if I have gotten anything wrong.

what I did:
1. tried to update: wr740nv6_wr741ndv6_en_3_16_9_up_boot(150616).bin
Got ErrorCode 18005
2. tried to update: Done 100%
3. "For downgrade you may need to use wr740nv6_tp_recovery.bin" dont have wr740nv6_tp_recovery.bin file so can't do it
4. Also tried to factory-to-dd-wrt-tlwr740nv6-29621 got error.
