Sorry to bring back this old thread, but after searching I couldn't find anything else on this matter. Has anyone made any progress in this department?

If not, I might be interested in doing so, I have the tools to open one, a multimeter to test, and mediocre soldering skill.

Oh and LONG time lurker, first time poster!
Thanks Smile

lets get this going
request for already broken routers

i am currently trying to get at least one intact router for less than 10$ so that it doesn't hurt too much when desoldering the BCM4717 and sanding down the PCB area to get a better picture of the copper traces.

supposedly there is a router called AirTies Air 4452 which has also the BCM4717 AND an USB Port installed. I am also trying to get one of these to hopefully be able to follow the traces to find the usb0_dp and usb0_dn contacts of the 4717.

this is it.
i finally found a airties 4452, i can confirm that it runs on a BCM4717 AND has a functional USB Port.

The usb data lines run directly to the processor without any additional components (except for one ferrit housed coil thing)
and the pins are
usb0_dn : 2K (K2)
usb0_dp : 2L (L2)

measuring 1.3 Ohm from stripped usb cable (plugged in)to these pads.

now its time to kill a wrt320n Smile any1?

worst case scenario (if there are no connections to these points on the wrt320n/e2000 board) would be soldering to the pins on processor-pcb

its not looking very good for the topside of the wrt320n pcb
but make a good statement about this we have to desolder one.

I take it adding a USB port to an E2000/WRT320N is not going to be a weekend project and shouldn't be attempted by beginners.
