Got a amazon certified refurbished Linksys e1200v2 ans followed dd-wrt-wiki http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E1200v2
The router is up and running.
I wanted to make it work normally before i try anything else. But when i connect to modem, i get wan ip as 0.0.0.0
I tried disabling dns, caz i read abt it somewhere, it didnt help.
Did you power cycle the router?
Also ... you say you just want to see if it works from defaults --- 192.168.2.1 IS NOT dd-wrt default LAN IP on that router.
If you are connected to the E1200v2 WAN port to your modem make sure its LAN is not same subnet as its WAN (Modems subnet)
do a reset
EDIT: Also I don't care what the wiki says -- there is 100+ k2.6 builds that will work better on that router than the K3.x you have installed.
Initially i connected in series with my original unmodified router that i use. since i need to keep them on different subnet, i modified it 192.168.2.1
As i noticed nothing worked. I did 30-30-30 reset, the settings displayed is just after 30-30-30 reset and connection to modem.

I had a look in the wiki, someone has got it totally wrong:
"This router uses k3x builds and not k26....."
No!
This router has a quite weak cpu which is clocked at 300MHz and has only 32MB of RAM, it is therefore not suitable for any other ddwrt build than a k26 build.
ddwrt K3.x builds needs a 500MHz cpu clock and 64MB RAM. _________________ Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
If you want a good gateway router that will handle better than 30+ across the WAN you should install k2.6-27858.
It's a decent build on this box.
Best way to get from your K3.x back to k2.6 without problems -
Give it few minutes to fully install. Unplug your network cable and take the E1200v2 in your lap and do a 30/30/30.
After last 30 seconds give a full minute then unplug power for 17 seconds.
Reconnect power give couple minutes to boot and plug in your network cable back to computer.
Should be able to login dd-wrt at 192.168.1.1
If you want full dd-wrt features then you can instal the K2.6 mega

No need to do a reset for this --
Honestly -- I still recommend Shibby Tomato on this router if you want to set it up and forget about it.
I still have it running on a E1200v2 (well over a year) with openVPN setup as client used to manage a small business network I take care of.

If you want a repeater bridge or some other such nonsense the 27858 K3.x does work decent for that .. not sure about later builds.
or you can do a good repeater bridge using the old dd-wrt.v24-21676_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-nv64k.bin -- works very well

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
That's typically a symptom that the modem does not have DHCP activated and the router is set to a dynamic IP address.
It's possible that the other problems mentioned in here are causing it- the slow CPU just can't process the data.
But, since I like to start with the basics, check that DHCP is enabled on the modem. You should then be getting assigned an IP address.
If that doesn't work, go with a static IP address on the router (my preference between modem and router, even if DHCP does work).
If you want a good gateway router that will handle better than 30+ across the WAN you should install k2.6-27858.

'bout all I know -
Go from K3.0>Stock Firmware>K2.6. That's the only way I haven't bricked these routers reverting from K.3.

Nope -- the E1200v2 is just good at acting like a brick sometimes.
Next time try my suggestion -
Done it many times --- always have nvram set to defaults with this router when flashing to/from different kernel
or different 3rd party firmware with option 'Don't Reset' ... then do the button thangy I mentioned afterwards.
Resetting to factory from GUI always ... wait about 10 ~ 13 seconds or until all lights flash then pull the power
cord for 'bout 17 seconds. You'll be good to go. K3.x reset may have to power cycle twice... and as I said go
back from K3.x with the k2.6 mini -- 30/30/30 yadda yadda and so on....
Install the k2.6 mini (w/router name) will usually come up fine but trust me you should do the 30/30/30 - wait + powercycle thang
and to keep from driving your computer batshit you should remove the network cable while doing this.
Also the 27858_K2.6 Repeater Bridge does not work but works ok with 27858 K3.x
and AFAIK most k2.6 builds prior to February 2015 work as Repeater Bridge on this box.
Then i again saw the wan ip as 0.0.0.0
Then gave up. After an hour when i checked, i did see it get its wan ip being part of lan ip of tplink router. I was able to access internet too. I used the same build as listed in the wiki
Thanks guys for all the help. This community is awesome. I am trying to set up one router on vpn and another as normal. I will get back to you with questions.
I have linksys router connected to LAN port of unmodified tplink router which has its wan port connected tot he modem.
You, sir, are a glutton for punishment. Enjoy your port forwarding, setting all 3 devices to forward your ports. Oh, wait... that's pretty much what I do here, too.
Which build are you using? You linked the k26 and k3 both. Note that at least two different people in this thread recommended not using a k3 on a router with a slower CPU.

Nothing to do with build or CPU.
Create a dhcp server on your computer and connect it to router wan. See what happens _________________ [Ramips] Nexx WT3020F Openwrt @kernel #4.14.167 (OpenVPN server, Wireguard server, AD blocking, SQM QOS, USB)
i see ~30mb/s through this router on k3.x, btw - can't comment yet on higher throughput speeds than that, but i believe the rule of thumb was clockspeed/4 is roughly what you should be expecting as max regardless of kernel...
