Thanks everyone for those invaluable suggestions....

Easily installed the new DDWRT Kong version.
My router is Linksys WRT1900 V2.

I used this simple method:

https://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=287813&sid=91f75cad4261b561b0173e72e9fec151

Going through some of the friend's posts I realized that most of failures/bricking happens in following situations:

- Following older OpenWRT or even DDWRT instructions for various way of resetting before or after firmware update (such as reset 30/30/30 rule) (In my case I did have to do any type of reset. After update and router restart - just needed to type in IP address (192.168.1.1)

- Not choosing correct version (V1/V2/ACS)
- Most important - and easily overlooked : DO NOT flash .bin file but the .img when you are updating with DDWRT for the first time (i.e. the router has no DDWRT firmware). I found a bit confusing the way the repository of the firmware files are grouped. Anyway, just need to grab the correct .img.

This is my 2 cents, from supernoob to other noobs!
