I have the 1200 series, and my temps are similar. Typically I'll see approximately:
CPU 77 *C / WL0 47*C / WL1 49*C
The v1 of the 1900 that has the fan doesn't turn on until 85*C if I recall.
Just out of curiosity, the other day I set a 60mm CPU fan on top of my 1200 to pull air out, and temps now read:
CPU 55.5 °C / WL0 29.5 °C / WL1 31.1 °C
It is surprising what a little air flow can do! Oh, and don't set the unit on top of a small 8 port switch - I realized after doing so that the heat from the switch was just going right up into the Linksys - my temps were about 2 to 3*C higher than what I posted above (without the fan).

Not true about the v1 fan on DD-WRT. The fan is used to keep the CPU within a user defined temperature range, 60-65 deg C by default. Although the fan is spinning most, if not all, of the time, it is inaudible due to the low RPM.

Yes for some reason DD-WRT has 65/60 as defaults. From what I have read Linksys sets the v1 to 85 on 80 off.
Openwrt sets the following:
CPU_LOW=85
CPU_HIGH=95
DDR_LOW=65
DDR_HIGH=75
WIFI_LOW=100
WIFI_HIGH=115
Have run Openwrt at these settings for weeks at a time on my wrt1900ac v1 without issue.
When running DD-WRT I set the fan to 85 on and 80 off and it never turns on. These chips can safely run at 95 and higher.

Thanks. Now with hotter weather, it went up to 80-81°C for the CPU, so it's good it's still within the acceptable range. Since it has no fan and only passive cooling, I was a bit worried about temperatures.

If you are worried, just sit it on a laptop cooler, or strap a USB fan to the top.
I might, but fan will also complicate things and will require a dust filter probably.
Not if you have it sucking rather than blowing
The router has ventilation holes both on top and the bottom. No matter what direction the airflow is, the dust will go in some way, unless you'll put a filter on the intake part of it
Anyway, I'll stick with passive cooling for now and see how things go.
