Hey guys, what is the last version of DD-WRT that EA6400 works on? I remember the first build I tried was boot looping and had to use an old build so I wonder if the last one is fine? And what is the optimal settings?

Just a quick update.

I'm now on this build: r29193 (03/02/16). Everything seems good.

Not bad at all without CTF.

I have got two EA6300V1. I accidentally bricked the first one.
After debrick, it works very well with above speedtest result on dd-wrt.

The interesting part is the second one.
Like I said last page, I successfully flashed small build then full build without cfe modification. Then I went back to stock.
When I flashed again the small build, it reboots 3 times directly into stock firmware, i.e. dd-wrt interface does not show up at all. Just the front light flashed for a long time, then stock interface in browser...

And actually the front light works for me on DD-WRT v3.0-r28846 std (01/16/16).

How were you able to do to debrick?
On my endlessly flickering light.

Hi All!

First a big than to all contributors to DDWRt on EA 6300. Great work!
Unfortunately i have a problem which was not mentioned before here. In the guide on the page 67,
Step 3: Transfer CFE and write it to the Router. after i did "mtd –f write /tmp/root/my_cfe_linksys-ea6400.bin /dev/mtd0" i got "The device is in the format of mtdX (eg: mtd4) or its label." error.

Complete output:
Quote:
root@DD-WRT:~# mtd –f write /tmp/root/my_cfe_linksys-ea6400.bin /dev/mtd0
Usage: mtd [<options> ...] <command> [<arguments> ...] <device>

The device is in the format of mtdX (eg: mtd4) or its label.
mtd recognizes these commands:
unlock unlock the device
erase erase all data on device
write <imagefile>|- write <imagefile> (use - for stdin) to device
Following options are available:
-q quiet mode (once: no [w] on writing,
twice: no status messages)
-r reboot after successful command
-f force write without trx checks
-e <device> erase <device> before executing the command

Example: To write linux.trx to mtd4 labeled as linux and reboot afterwards
mtd -r write linux.trx linux

Now i don't know what to to. even my router is still on in this status because i am not shure if i can switch it off now. Any Idea? Webinterface of mini DDWRT is still available.

Thanx.

Hi Stalk,
Did you get this figured out? Could you try removing the "-f" option from the command and let me know if that works?

Good luck!

Hi Butterworth,

it makes no difference without -f. I will try to call it without /dev/, just
mtd –f write /tmp/root/my_cfe_linksys-ea6400.bin mtd0, but in ca 2 hours.

ok, i got it.

The right one was:

Quote:
mtd -f write my_cfe.bin mtd0

Now i'll try to go forward.

Excellent. I was actually typing a reply to suggest a command along those lines.

So it seems three things:
    - Maybe a short filename matters (probably not, but worth noting)
    - The error you saw seems to be the result of a syntax error or typo (from what I see on a Google search). Maybe the trick was probably noting that you were already in the necessary directory with the my_cfe.bin file, so the additional "/tmp/root/" directory was the cause of the error. In other words, maybe it was trying to look for "/tmp/root/tmp/root/linksys_CFE.bin", which didn't exist. However, the more I think about it, the less likely this seems since the commands to write the actual dd-wrt firmware have this syntax, and work just fine.
    - Maybe the router already knows what device it needs to write to, and the "/dev/" part of the device location ("/dev/mtd0") was unnecessary.
I'll update the instructions on page 67 with a "cd <directory>" command, thereby ensuring that future people are looking in the correct location for their firmware.

Thanks for the update - glad you have it working!

Hi,

thank you for your help. I think it was the syntax error - full specified path and full specified path for mtd0.

Now i have merlin asuswrt running - looks super!

Try holding the WPS button for 30 seconds as you plug it in. The xvortex CFE changes the reset-to-CFE webserver button from reset button to the WPS button.

You may have accidentally changed the IP address or subnet of the router; that's why it isn't responding to pings.
