Hi All,

I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 version 1223df. I am unable to get any response on the wan port. I have a zyxel modem that I have set to bridge mode and it works perfectly with the official firmware 4.05.03. Firstly I must mention that I did indeed read all the important posts in the "read this" bit. I have tried all steps in the peacock thread under step 14 to no avail. I have also tried multiple versions of the mini vintage binary, including 13064, eko 12548 and eko 14428. I have indeed performed the 30/30/30 hard rest between upgrades. Nothing seems to work, however I have noticed something peculiar. When first connecting after the firmware flash the LAN won't connect properly however the WLAN will connect and instead of getting an ip address from the router it will instead get a proper internet IP address. When I reset the this problem goes away, but alas the WAN port does not become active. I have also tried upgrading without the wan cable connected and this prevents this problem but it still won't connect later.

I am at my wits end and I was hoping anyone here could help me out. I have added screenshots to this post with all my settings.

Thanks!
Wild

Plug the cable into the wan port and set a gateway in the router basic settings. Should be your modem IP. Shrink or delete your pictures as they are over the max. allowable size and a make reading your entire post a pain.

Yes, was already busy with resizing, sorry for the oversight, it's done now!

When you are asking me to set a gateway should I enter the original WAN IP 82.171.181.214 or the original default gateway 82.171.191.254? Why would it not pick this up automatically as in the original firmware?

I did as you asked and entered the modem IP address, I even cloned the mac address to be the same as well with the set et0macaddr command. Unfortunately it changed nothing :(

I do notice activity on the WAN port of my belkin router. At least the led does keep blinking, however the internet led on my zyxel stays blank.

*EDIT* deleted attachment

Because you are not using oem firmware. Try setting the gateway to 192.168.100.2.....you modem lan IP. You need to read about connecting routers to modems. Make sure you have it plugged into the wan port, and have the router set to auto wan connection... There are other ways to do it....bridge the modem...bridge the router.

You also have no dns settings. Not sure how that is going to work out for you....

You are starting to do things you don't understand. You might wish to read the networking for dummies thread linked in the retired stickies sticky. Do a HARD RESET on the router and reconfigure it properly from scratch.

BTW...that backup is useless to anyone. We can't and wouldn't put it on our routers to see the settings. Might as well delete it. Go back to 12548 and use it to troubleshoot from. 14228 is a highly experimental build that isn't necessarily working properly.

I finally fixed this issue and I believe it is a bug with the new sp2 builds. I switched back to a very old build "Firmware: DD-WRT v24 (05/20/08) mini" filename "dd-wrt.v24-9517_VINT_mini.bin" and this solved the problem.

I did this because after scouring the forum for similar issues I came across people having the same problems:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=61890
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=71303
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=68171

They are all trying to run SP2 on a belkin F5D7230-4 so there must be an incompatibilty which caused them to stop working from SP1 to SP2. I know I am not supposed to run such an old version, but I guess I am stuck with it. I have very little coding skills, but I am willing to help debug this issue and try to solve it.

Noone feels this is a bug that should be fixed? Or is this something I would have to give a bugrerport on myself. I've never done such a thing before, but am willing to give it a go.

I'm sure wan on my 7230 worked with sp2 builds from September (or August) 2009. I can't remember the exact build number. I don't have this router any more - so i can't test.

Please send me your nvram dump.

was the switch issue ever resolved with the 7230-4 v2000?

From what I understand, the ports... either the lan works, or the wan, not both at the same time..

Sorry about the hijack.. Eko is here to possibly answer.

Right. WAN will not work with v2000, but with older versions (v1000, v122x, v1444) it should using VINT builds.

I have attached the nvram dump of the VINT 9517 Final build, this one is working properly. I can also make dumps of other builds, let me know which one you would like me to test.

Yes, I only downloaded VINT builds, amongst others dd-wrt.v24-12548_VINT_mini.bin, dd-wrt.v24-13064_VINT_mini.bin and dd-wrt.v24-14428_VINT_mini.bin

This is exactly what I have noticed on my 7230-4 v1223df as well. Whenever the LAN port works WAN is not doing anything and vice versa. Also I did notice as you can see from the screenshots that the LAN and WAN mac-address is exactly the same. When I change one the other changes as well.

I'll try to get that to you tonight, otherwise it won't be until the weekend. Thanks for looking into this.
