It finally occurred to me: Take the program that uploads the firmware binary into the NVRAM, and convert it to run on a Linux PC so it writes the NVRAM image to a disk file.

Find the reset sequence for this model. Generally hold the reset button while powering on. That will reset the nvram.

I tried that. It didn't work. And I don't have the hardware to try the JTag so ...
