Have been using entware's ntp server for years. It works like a charm, highly recommended. Even added a gps to it as a local time source in case internet is down (mostly 'cause I'm kind of a nerd).

Its funny, here is my WRT3200ACM. The only exception to my install is the fan is a 12 volt DC, leaching directly off the router 12 volt power supply.

Where did you tap in for the fan power?

I use tar, ie: ' tar -cvf tarfile /jffs ' to preserve all attributes.
Then it can be saved anywhere.

With no local storage, tar's output can be piped to remote storage.

Low-tier NTP server? Nice to have, nice to have... but not for old routers with limited RAM? And indeed you can use Entware to install it yourself.

Another update - 1900ACSV2 - > 3200ACM also fails with the same message. Seems it isn't possible to restore between these.
