I was able to dim mine a great deal by using a sharpie on the LEDs and on the end of the plastic pieces that go down to the LEDs on the cover. You can still see them, but they don't light up the wall ... | |

It looks to me like if you had a long enough pigtail (and the router was well cooled) you could just bend the antenna at the hinge to where it's in the "L" shape and put it just about anywhe ... | |

Just plug and play. I have that setup. Works fine with no real configuration to make it work. Then just tweak whatever settings your heart desires. | |
