Try other file system such as fat or fat32. I believe they are still supported on r29739 for e4200. If you must use ext2, try older build such as r29193.

Just to clarify: ext2 IS supported on r29 ...

K3 on e4200 seems to not have ext modules for mounting ext2 (in particular) to mount ext2 formatted USB sticks. It woks fine on 2.6 but not on K3. This is also the case ...

Just a (late) follow up:
I've gone back several years and selected various k3 versions and installed them looking for tcpdump but nadda.

There don't appear to be any "giga" builds for e4 ...

Only builds without enough flash don't have tcpdump, get a new AC router and you will have tcpdump.

Gee, just when I was thinking 16Mb ought to be enough for anybody.

I used to find tcpdump quite useful for troubleshooting (eg wireless to wired, inside to outside) however later dd-wrt builds no longer include tcpdump.

What do people now use for packet capturing ...

I've finally bitten the bullet and decided to upgrade from my trusty asus wl500w to a Lynksys e4200.

I've installed 18777 as per recommendation from the wiki and most things seem ok BUT ...
