The "version" that worked best with this router turned out to be OpenWRT. No slow GUI and stability problems if you use OpenWRT instead of dd-wrt.

Maybe something's wrong with the external IP checker. You can just tell the ddns service to grab your public IP from the route itself using the following option:

Do not use external ip check = yes

I'm wondering the same thing, as of typing this they are currently at build 15279. But we haven't gotten a new build in over 6 weeks and we are left hanging with an unstable 14929 build.
