The bottom of the router does not state what version I have... But when I had dd-wrt installed it said version 1.1

That assumption would be incorrect... Channels 8, 9 or 10 would be better than what you are competing for on 1-5.

Why did you disable ACK timing? That may be the cause of the problem. Try the performance when ACK timing is at default 2000.

I have a WRT600n myself, and you can safely use DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/17/11) mega - build 16214. The higher firmwares had issues for me though.
