I can confirm this, last stable build of r00t (not nightly) based on kernel 4.9 really rocks...I have never seen such good wireless 5 ghz speeds, not even on stock firmware

I don't think that wireless channel has anything to do with the frequent dropouts...
WR941ND which has very similar wireless chip, does not have these dropout issues with any software and any revisio ...
