Reset the router to defaults and start from scratch. There is no way to recover your password. How did you remember your forum password and not your router password?

5Ghz band is only good for the room that the AP is in, usually. This is a given. It is not as deep-penetrating as the 2.4 band.

Save each config page, and when you're done with your configs, reboot the router. Otherwise, wait several minutes if you're going to shortcut things with "apply".
