I would like to know why Linux Kernel 4.x is not working/supported and what we need to have a stable build for this router.

Not sure on the reasoning on what is flagged as stable or not but I am ...

I'm sure I be corrected if I wrong but I think the way it works is the server name has several IP addresses assigned to it. So by picking the IP over the server name you will always connect to that IP ...

Well I've setup PIA based OpenVPN on the r31791 build (WRT1900ACS V1) today, simple following PIA's guidance but using the strong certs on port 1197 and it's working out very well

First time DD-WRT user and I've used this build on my 1900ACSv1, I've not got anything to compare it against except a little dabble with OpenWRT before hand, but so far it's doing all I wanted from it ...
