It is very hard to fully kill these devices.

I have several versions of the 615. Recovery is best by using Firefox Portable 13. I also use a serial, USB-TTL, connection to see what the router is d ...

I would have tried downgrading the factory firmware. It sounds like the Factory firmware was not accepting the image.

As for the D-Link recovery room. It will always come up. The issue is not in g ...

In other threads, tatsuya46 and others have said that the max for a single core router is about ~150MB/s in reality. You may get more using SFE (Shortcut Forwarding Engine) but that eliminates QoS.

PostForum: Atheros WiSOC based Hardware   Posted: Sun Oct 18, 2020 23:36   Subject: DIR-615
I had 2 DIR-615 E3's that I tried to upgrade back in Aug. They bricked. I ended up leaving a 2019 build on them. I tried some builds from 2020 (randomly mainly).

E3 and E4 are identical.

I use PuTTY, for both SSH/telnet and Serial. I have also used Br@y's Terminal in the past.

Make sure the baud rate is correct, 115200. 8N1.

PostForum: Atheros WiSOC based Hardware   Posted: Sun Oct 11, 2020 3:35   Subject: WDS VAP
I think the issue may be the WDS Station router's VAP. It should be set to AP, not WDS. WDS AP mode in the Virtual Access Point section is for connecting one WDS Station to another WDS Station. I use ...

Can you take a screenshot of what you get via serial? Don't forget to zip up the photo or resize it to 1024 width. I prefer zipping it up.

Thanks,

You can recover this router, as with almost any TP-Link by using a TFTP server on your computer. No extra hardware other than an Ethernet cord.
