it can be a faulty flash, its rare but it happens , out of +200 routers ive upgraded last year to dd.wrt just one unit had a broken flash(was a netgear wndr4500v2 ).... detection of a broken flash mem ...

must clear nvram ram after flash , do that from asus emergency webinterface , otherwise the bootloop continues


and flash original firmware first - use old and smallest stockfirmware you can find, ...

flashing this router is a long way , consider also adding a new cooling pad on the main CPU ... because the original one is just crap, its a production error ... the device easily heats ...

check the powersupply, exchange it against another one with similar specs and see if the reboots continue.

from my experience, the TP-Link powersupplies are the first to check if such errors occur.

look for AES-NI CPU feature, DD-WRT support that AES Hardware acceleration

the J1900 CPU doesnt support that, so openvpn is extremly slow with that CPU

get a 2nd hand linksys wrt1200 or r7000 or TP Link archer c9 (v1)

they all support 30mbps vpn speed easy

i am not sure where are you located but if you have any 2nd hand online market places , ...

actually all these converting procedures are not needed.

the dd-wrt firmware vor C5 v1.2 just unlocks all Archer c7 features without any hassle - fUll 1300mbps on 5ghz and 450 mbps on 2.4ghz .... ...

the asus adapter will not work right away, brainslayer might have the drivers, but its untested with retail client broadcom wifi modules ...

look out for Qualcomm Atheros QCA9880 / QCA9882 and QCA ...
