Normally it would state : linux not supported

There is no output at all. Where am I supposed to issue the command? Root home? /tmp? Else?

If there is no output that should be good, there should be either no output or it should be 0.

If you have a windows client just download the file to your desktop/laptop and use WinSCP to transfer the file to /tmp
In this way you also have a spare copy.

Yep Xvortex CFE, you have only one linux partition, regular linksys will have linux and linux2

Update via the command line as outlined in the EA6900 install guide

The 64 KB nvram and WPS button reset points to using the Xvortex CFE

You cannot reliably update via the GUI or it will end up at the wrong partition

The newer ARM CPUs certainly can but not many routers currently have the newer arm CPU's (there are exceptions, you have one I know)

If you use the 2.4 GHz as uplink and also as a VAP then you have to share the bandwidth and depending on your settings then 40 Mb/s throughput is as good as it gets.
