Finally able to format a NAS USB to ExFat through the dd-wrt firmware, and use Samba 3.11 to connect to shares. Previously, had to use Samba 2.10 as the Max protocol.

I'm also running a R7000 using dd-wrt 45454 with a connected USB NAS drive. Drive is formatted EXFAT with write access needed across multiple manufacturer devices.

Yep, I know you can format from ddwrt ... it's that the replacement USB has an old Linux distro on it.

Guess I'm just thinking out loud as I don't have a PC available at the mome ...

What had happened was that while I was saving a startup command change - via webgui on wifi - the webgui interface froze.

Was deleting some unneeded startup scripts from commands. Upon saving the new settings, my wifi connection was lost.

I shutdown my R7000, waited 20 minutes and ...
