I pulled the trigger and updated to the 10/20 build (r47528). The box rebooted fine and is online so far. I'll observe it in coming days and see how that goes.

Well, probably you can bypass it via command line but keep in mind this limitation very likely is to safeguard the router from yourself. It doesn't scale well, can and will easily fry.
