After getting hacked I didn't go through the necessary security steps for the router: I just did an NVRAM erase && install.

Found nothing suggesting errant viruses or spyware on the system ...

Telnet (from LAN) is the only thing enabled by default after installation. This is noted in many places all over the forum and wiki... and for SSH remote management:

You're supposed to set the same SSID for the 5ghz and 2.4ghz.

There is a technology that the router/client can use both simultaneously for higher throughput, no?
