PS: yes, I read the stikies and the wikies.
Then you should know to test throughput ~1 meter away before testing range and to provide more info like your distance, obstructions, signal, link rate, etc ...

Hi,

My wrt54g-tm with tomato raf outperforms wnr3500L with tomato raf or dd-wrt (dd-wrt.v24-15943_NEWD-2_K2.6_big). I am hitting a fraction of the old wifi speed with the n setup.

I have 2 wired pcs ...

Put 11296 on the router. That is the build that remains recommended in the peacock thread for G devices like yours. It is a good stable build.

Stable for some, unstable for others. My dd-wrt router ...

I've found a wrt300n v1.0 on a good price, I think I'll get it. Reasonable flash/mem and cpu.

Current builds are 'buggy as hell' too. Just give it (lots of) time. Meanwhile, use recommended build from peecock thread.
