....I can imagine that some broken PC Network Adapter or switch might cause these conflicts....

very very likely...or device with bad drivers/compatibility.. or malicious/corrupt device spamming/fl ...

huh yes this would be great, but sadly..nvram erase is bound with reboot..
otherwise..

nvram backup (path) (filename.bin)
nvram restore (path) (filename.bin)

no brackets... Cool

aghh egc was first...you have to tag those vlan's...
also bear in mind br0 contains wan and vlan1(the lan ports)

will most of the modems in UK still use PPPoE WAN interface...than you may need your user & password....but you may require VLAN ID tag on the WAN port..instead..

For first flash it should be ok with any factory file...Kong file was mentioned due to its small size and less chance to hit bad blocks in the flash ram ...
you can flash with Kong than move to the 5 ...

-R7800 is really great router...and DDWRT is compatible with it...
-QoS has a lot of options, but it also comes with drawback...it takes a good toll on the CPU.. ...
