He's probably talking about Kong's builds.

Is R8000 still the one to use for this router? I see that there is also an R8500.
Yes, still R8000. R8500 should not be used for this model. It has totally different hardware. |

DIR-895L is NOT compatible with any AC3200. It's not the same hardware at all. The 895L is closer to (but not the same as) RT-AC5300. | |

Yes, you can just flash the stock firmware from dd-wrt webui.
I tested with build 40134 flashed to 2.0.2.188405. |

If you want to keep stock on one of the partitions, you should keep it on partition 2 and run dd-wrt in partition 1 cos for last few dd-wrt builds, the size can only fit in partition 1 as they're too ... | |

For cron, you would have to insert a line like:
cd /tmp/mnt/smbshare at the start of the script as cron's working dir may not be what your script wants. |

Using the telnet/ssh method will flash it because its only the GUI having a fit with partition 2 and firmware size issues. From my own testing, even though the flash in cli does not return any erro ... |

wrt1900acsv2 webflash from 39956
only boots up from partition 1 if flashed to partition 2. filesize 40505344 (same as previous 2 versions (40400, 40439)). |
