If you are getting gibberish than you 100% have a bad connection, check to make sure none of your wires have a break in them.

You need to downgrade the firmware before you can reinstall ddwrt

Looks like I am going to have to try to install dd-wrt again by tftp or over uart.
Web flashing is now generating errors.

If you cant ping the router then nothing is going to fix it short of UART

Try this to get you router back up and running because you arent bricked just yet.

Set you computer IP to 192.168.0.66 (dont make up your one use this one ...

Spend less than $10 and use hardware.
Plus its nice to have a usb-serial laying around if you even need one.

I was using 192.168.0.x but if to u ifconfig in CFE it says the router address is 192.168.1.1

Yeah its running and no firewall. I was abole to tftpover the original tplink fw and after it rebooted it got stuck in CFE. Now it will time out when I try I send it any file for flashing
